“Find someone who reminds you of Allah.” I used to wonder how could a person possibly remind me OF God, not ABOUT God? Especially someone who doesn’t preach or talk about religion much, how does it practically work?
Until you fall deeply in love with someone.
Not the fleeting kind, but the sort where your heart settles and says, “This is the one”, something changes in you. You give your all, not because you're forced to, but because you want to. You find yourself loving more than you thought you could. You try to become a better version of yourself, for them. You go beyond what’s required. You do things they like, adopt their hobbies, avoid things that could hurt them, all just to bring a smile to their face.
Even when they don’t reply to your messages right away, you wait patiently. You trust them. You believe they’ll get back to you eventually. You’re invested in the relationship not just in the butterflies and fireworks, but also in the quiet moments. The routines, the silences, the doubts. And when worries creep in, such as “What if we grow distant?" or "What if the spark fades?”, you care enough to nurture it, to fight for it, to keep choosing love even on the hard days.
And slowly, I realized: Love has its patterns.
This is the kind of love that reminds me of God.

We love Him not just out of obligation, but out of deep yearning and gratitude. We try to become better, not because we’re told to, but because we want to please Him. We start letting go of things that take us further from Him. We take on small acts of devotion just because it brings us closer.
Sometimes, we don’t feel His reply right away. Our du'as seem unanswered. But we still trust. We wait. We believe that the silence is not absence, and the delay is not rejection.
I figured out this is what it means to find someone who reminds you of Allah. Not through their words, but through the way they love. The way they inspire you to become better, to trust deeper, to hold on longer. It mirrors the kind of love we were always meant to have with our Creator.
Love is a beautiful feeling. But when love brings you closer to Him, when it softens your heart and anchors your soul, that kind of love is a gift beyond words.
This post is inspired.
